Year: 2011

Dear Friends,

Can you name this Beautiful Creature?

In last week’s Forward Thinking we examined the BioImmersion probiotics and synbiotic formulas and answered why the formulas are effective, powerful, and nourishing foods. Gathered, formulated, and sourced from worldwide traditions, the health benefits derived from consuming fermented foods have been presented in the therapeutic foods formulas.  To aid you in building protocols for your patients, we highlighted each of the synbiotic formulas showing how the different good probiotic/food combinations achieved multidimensional benefits—Forward Thinking Nov 18th, 2011.

This week we will explore together the added benefits you can achieve by consuming a multitude of therapeutic foods as part of your regular diet.

Vitamin D is a rising star in the nutriceutical industry.  Its sales in 2010 topped out at $139,852,346, and this year it is at $189,232,610!!!  That’s a 75% increase in sales, and 2011 isn’t even over yet.

The health claims for Vitamin D are exciting in such areas as osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, hypertension, cancer, and more.

Vitamin D experts such a Robert Heaney MD of Creighton University and Bruce Hollis MD from Medical University of South Carolina and others are suggesting regular doses for kids to be 1000 to 1500 IU/day, and for adults to be 1000 to 2000 IU/day.  People living in less sunny environments need to adjust upward.  The goal is to achieve healthful blood levels of 40 to 75 ng/ml.

How can the Therapeutic Foods satisfy these requirements?

Let us look first at the Number 7 Systemic Booster, all by itself, in meeting the Vitamin D recommendations.  Then we’ll add the FructoBorate Complex to the daily regime, looking at its added benefit.  And, finally adding the Beta Glucan Synbiotic Formula, we will count up the compounded benefits.

Number 7 Systemic Boosterp_no7

The Number 7 Systemic Booster contains the 5 traditional Bulgarian lactic acid bacteria (remember what I said last week about Illya Metchnikoff—the Father of Protiobics and our Bulgarian bugs), berries and fruit (organic pomegranate, cranberry, tart cherry and pineapple), fiber (organic inulin from organic chicory root), cell rejuvenating compounds (carnitine-another hot nutriceutical with 24% growth this year, and carnosine), Fructo Borate- more on this in a minute, barley nucleotides for promoting healthy blood sugar levels- no gluten here, folate and Vitamin D3- 1000IU/ tsp- the daily recommended dose of this product.

The Number 7 Systemic Booster is for supporting or boosting many of the bodies systems—the gastrointestinal, the osteoskeletal, the urogenital, the cardiovascular, the endocrine, the immune, and the neurological systems.  You can see why we suggested last week that this is a good product for older people because many of their systems are on the wane—we’re frame this product as a powerful longevity formula.

We certainly can stop here but what would be the effect of adding to the rigime the Fructo Borate Complex- one capsule a day and the Beta Glucan Synbiotic Formula- one heaping tablespoon a day?

Fructo Borate Complex p_fructo

The Fructo Borate Complex is the boron ion bonded to two fructose molecules combined in a capsule with a little calcium ascorbate.  Boron as a fructo-borate duplicates how boron appears in food, in that it is always found bound to carbohydrate.  In this form it is a very tightly bound molecule that transits the GI tract membrane into the systemic circulation maintaining its bond, and going to receptor sites as such.

There are three major things accomplished by this product.  One, it helps protect and support bone density and joint health.  Two, it helps protect against and reduce osteoarthritis by calming down an over zealous immune system from hammering joints, thus reducing swelling and pain.  And three, it selectively enhances blood levels of DHEA, testosterone, and raises the blood levels of Vitamin D3 (it’s a prohormone).  In our Yugoslavian trial studies with our European scientists on Fructo Borate it raised blood levels of Vitamin D3 in two months (at one capsule a day) by 19%.

This is the reason we put in the Number 7 powder the equivalent of one-half capsule when one consume one teaspoon the Number 7.  So if one wants a more pronounced effect of the Fructo Borate add the capsules daily.  It also has been show to reduce C-reactive protein.

Beta Glucan Synbiotic Formula p_betaglucan

Why add this product?  What I am trying to show you here is that you can be creative in combining several Therapeutic Foods formulas (after all it is food!).

The Beta Glucan is comprised of good bugs and good fibers.  That’s it.  But the probiotics (good bugs) are different than in the Number 7—different strains, a few different species, and originated from different parts of the world. The Beta Glucan also adds two additions sources of fibers.

The Beta Glucan Synbiotic contains L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosis, L. plantarum, S. thermophilus, and B. longum.  The Number 7 contains L. acidphilus (a different strain), L. helveticus, L. casei, B. infantis and B. longum (a different strain).  In addition with the Number 7 there is the Supernatant which is the metabolites of the L. bulgaricus and the S. thermophilus (different strain) also with the inactive whole cells of these two good bugs- done on purpose for immune stimulation.

In regards to the added fibers:  the beta glucan fibers are from oat bran (only 0.02% gluten, which is tolerated beautifully by most gluten sensitive people),  and a variety of soluble and insoluble fiber from organic beet root.  These fibers enhance healthy blood lipid support, glycemic support, and general more fiber support.

It is exciting, isn’t it, what these products can do when added together?  That is the power of foods!  So keep this in mind as you bring the Therapeutic Foods into your therapeutic platform for your patients.  You can find educational materials in our website oriented both for doctors and their patients.  Have them click on the Publishing Blog on BioImmersion’s Home Page and they can read this newsletter or any of the others archieved there.  They can go to our Library Tab and read the monographs on each product. Education is important and helps with the very efficacy of the treatment.

Well, To Your Health and the health of your patients!

Sincerely yours,

Seann Bardell

Dear Friends,

Can you name this Beautiful Creature?

Last week, I was asked by one of our doctors, a Forward Thinking reader, the following:

Do you offer a one-page handout explaining the benefits of BioImmersion’s probiotics over other probiotics on the market?

A good question, as there are many probiotics to choose from in the market today.  It is a booming industry, as it should be, because seeding the gut with friendly bacteria has proven to confer many health advantages.  So why ours? Simple, BioImmersion’s probiotics are powerful and nourishing therapeutic foods.

Probiotics As Therapeutic Foods:

As with any company, the quality of the company’s product line is a direct reflection of the goals, mission and purposes of the company’s owner(s).  If their purpose is just another venue to make money, and the quality of their product line is not their primary concern, then their product’s health building  performance will generally mirror their attitude.  If their life experiences instill in them the inner drive to demand high quality performance in a given product, then they will do what it takes to make that happen. And that is what we decided to do with the Therapeutic Foods line, including of course, the probiotics.

Both Dohrea and I have been in the holistic field for over thirty years, bridging the scientific research community with practicing doctors—formulating, educating and marketing a wide variety of high quality products to improve human health.  Probiotics have been a major focus of our work over these years, from our very beginnings in 1981.

We formed BioImmersion Inc. in 2004 to fully control the product outcomes we wanted. We are a global company working in collaboration and partnership with many scientists, manufacturing experts, farmers and health professionals from all over the world to produce high quality therapeutic foods—foods with exceptional purity, potency and efficacy.

Seven Therapeutic Foods Formulas contain probiotic organisms—all being lactic acid bacteria of various species and strains.  We are very blessed to have extremely dedicated and gifted microbiologists and cell biologists whom we have worked with over many years—both from this country and from countries in Eastern Europe, especially Bulgaria.  To produce good probiotics you’ve got to love your bugs!  I must say our teams on both sides of the ocean love their microorganisms and cherish their growing collections.

It is a special privilege to us to have a team of scientists in Bulgaria working with us, for Bulgaria is considered to be the motherload when it come to the use of probiotic foods in medicine.  The scientific study of probiotics as health promoting medicine began with Illya Metchnikoff PhD, a  Nobel Laureat, and longevity scientist who, upon the death of Louis Pasteur, took over the directorship of the Pasteur Institute. Metchnikoff believed that old age can be associated with the preservation of intelligence and the power to work. He has been called the Father of Probiotics for his work in indentifying the probiotic organisms important in promoting healthy longevity and aging at the turn of the 20th Century.  He is the founder of Gerontology, establishing it as a the medical discipline.

Metchnikoff studied cultures all around the world to see which had the most robust old people, analyzing the reasons for their good health. He observed the power of fermented foods within these long-lived societies and developed the theory that lactic-acid bacteria in the digestive tract could, by preventing putrifactions, prolong life. Bulgarian people were amongst the healthiest older population! Their tradition for fermented foods is known all over the world. Many of our organisms are his own favorites!! As you can see, our probiotics have enjoyed a long healthy tradition of enhancing people’s health and longetivity.

BioImmersion is certified to buy reference probiotic organisms from ATCC, the largest repository for probiotic organisms in the world (out of Virginia, USA).  ATCC is considered to be the Gold Standard when it comes to indentifying (typing) and safe storage of the mother cultures.

Each of our probiotics formulas is a wholesome therapeutic food; each has its own unique strength to heal and nourish the body. As a quick reference to the probiotics, think of each probiotic as a fermented food designed for specific purposes and with the general aim of protecting the gut, digesting food, detoxifying, boosting the immune system and so much more.

Original Sybiotic Formula: a basic probiotic therapeutic food, containing bugs and fiber. Remember, each of us need 25 grams of fiber per day. Use this to implant after antibiotic therapy, to battle yeast infections, and add fermentation to your diet.

Beta Glucan Synbioitc Formula: specifically designed as a cardiovascular therapeutic food.  Also an excellent product for those suffering from Metabolic Syndrome.  Great amount of fiber!

High ORAC Synbiotic formula: specifically designed to calm the gut, and protect the body with high amount of ORAC, which in turn reduces inflammation and neutralizes  free radicals!

Triple Berry Probiotic: specifically designed for children to protect brain and gut!

Supernatant Synbiotic Formula: specifically designed to protect against infections (hospital generated infections or general infections).

Cranberry Pomegranate Synbiotic Formula: specifically designed to protect against urinary tract infections.

No 7 Systemic Booster: specifically designed to boost body systems with a powerful combinations of therapeutic foods, probiotics, and specific nutriceuticals for longevity.

Every one of the probiotic therapeutic foods can be used as a general probiotic and as a specific healer. It is a good strategy to rotate between several of these therapeutic foods as traditionally we feed our bodies different fermented foods.

To your health!

Sincerely yours,

Seann Bardell

Bold Corrective Voices

November 10, 2011

Dear Friends,

Can you name this Beautiful Creature?

BioImmersion’s newest product, Ultra Minerals, takes us to the heart of saving our planet for abundant life: our earth’s soil.  This week’s beautiful creature reminds us of an era, a time before the dawn of humans when our soil was rich in minerals—and consequently so too were the plants and all animal life that consumed them—creating a lush and healthy flora and fauna.  Today, because we have trashed the air, sea, and land, we are in the midst of an escalating disaster that literally may push us all into the next major extinction—the seventh in Earth’s history.

Why is this happening and what can we do?
Gold mining is big business in Peru.

Gold mining in one of the most pristine virgin rainforests on earth—the Madre de Dios region in Peru’s Amazon basin—is a prime example of humankind’s absolute disregard for the environmental impact of their actions and consequences to their health.  They are oblivious, but we aren’t.  Worldwide we have already destroyed over one-half of the world’s rainforest.  In this picture you are not only seeing formerly mineral and microbial rich soil that has been neutered of all mineral and microbial content, but you are seeing a soil to which toxic mercury has been added as a means of getting out the gold.  Over 50 tons of mercury is used by small-scale miners in this region each year.  The ugly truth is that some $50 billion of mostly foreign investment is lined up for extractive industries in Peru over the next decade.  Corporations are continually raping and pillaging the commons.  The Peruvian rainforest is being destroyed for gold!

Green house gases the worst ever recorded.

The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the highest amount on record, the U.S. Department of Energy calculated, a sign of how feeble the world’s efforts are at slowing man-made global warming.

The new figures for 2010 mean that levels of greenhouse gases are higher than the worst case scenario outlined by climate experts just four years ago.

The world pumped about 564 million more tons (512 million metric tons) of carbon into the air in 2010 than it did in 2009. That’s an increase of 6 percent. That amount of extra pollution eclipses the individual emissions of all but three countries – China, the United States and India, the world’s top producers of greenhouse gases.  [Shame on us!]. (Huffington Post)

But the world is waking up.

The world’s people are stirring, even in America —Occupy Wall Street … Occupy Oakland … Occupy Seattle.  The heavy hitters are coming out and it’s good to study what they are saying and how they say it.  They are the apologists for our cause.  May I introduce you to three leaders you must get to know:  Chris Hedges, Annie Leonard, and Amory Lovin from the Rocky Mountain Institute.

Chris Hedges shuts down CMC Kevin O’Leary

Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer prize winning reporter and author.  He is one of the most articulate spokes person for the cause of fighting to save the enviroment, social justice and sustainable economies.  Watch how Chris Hedges keeps his cool in a hot exchange with Kevin O’Leary.

In this Part One of an interview with Chris Hedges at Occupy Wall Street in NYC you get to hear more fully as Hedges expands his dissection and analysis on the nature of the reality before us:

We are calling forth for the restoration of the rule of law... the power in our society has been seized by a thin oligarchic class, a thin managerial elite, [a handful of transnational corporate giants] … nefarious forces that are destroying our ecosystems and destroying our country … they want us to remain passive and frightened … two-thirds of this country increasingly are being pushed to live at a subsistance level.

The Story of Broke

The United States isn’t broke; we’re the richest country on the planet and a country in which the richest among us are doing exceptionally well.  But the truth is, our economy is broken, producing more pollution, greenhouse gasses and garbage than any other country. (Annie Leonard 2011)

Annie Leonard has dedicated nearly two decades to investigating and organizing on environmental health and social justice.  Her team has created these absolutely brilliant animated presentation of the social issues we are facing.  Her first was The Story of Stuff, which was following by The Story of Bottled Water, The Story of Electronics, The Story of Cosmetics and more.  Her latest, just released this week is The Story of Broke—It’s short and to the point.

Reinventing Fire

Reinventing Fire: Bold Business Solutions for the New Energy Era offers actionable solutions for four energy-intensive sectors of the economy: transportation, buildings, industry, and electricity.  Built on Rocky Mountain Institute’s 30 years of research and work in the field, Reinventing Fire maps pathways for running a 158%-bigger U.S. economy in 2050 but needing no oil, no coal, and no nuclear energy.

The Energy Sustain Complex

November 2, 2011

Dear Friends,

Can you name this Beautiful Creature?

On Monday this week I presented in our newsletter to you our new Ultra Minerals- Mesozoic Vegetate.  In case you missed the email you can find it on our website under the Publishing Blog tab or through this link—Forward Thinking October 31st.  Check it out, it’s quite good, I think you’ll like it.

Today, as I promised, I’m presenting the second of our new products—Energy Sustain Complex– A Global Blend of Indigenous Seeds and Grains.

Whereas the plant sourced minerals for our Ultra Minerals come from Deep Time (dinosaur era) vegetate (see the Green Facts at the end of this email), Energy Sustain Complex is a mix of indigenous organic seed and grains from different parts of the world. The formula is comprised of foundational foods that have been with us for thousands of years, and are a very important part of our evolutionary history. Their benefits are well documented and researched.

The Energy Sustain plant based materials come from USA organically grown amaranth, buckwheat, chia, quinoa and millet— the first four being true seeds and millet being a true grain.

The Energy Sustain Complex: Science and Attributes

Millet may be the oldest, having been dated back to as early as 8300 BC in China and Korea. Millet is very rich in B vitamins, especially niacin, B6 and folic acid, and essential minerals such as calcium iron, potassium, magnesium and zinc. The Hunzas, who live in a remote area of the Himalayan foothills and are known for their excellent health and longevity, enjoy millet as a staple in their diet. Millet is highly nutritious, non-glutinous, and like buckwheat and quinoa, is not an acid forming food, therefore soothing and easy to digest. In fact, it is considered to be one of the least allergenic and most digestible grains available, a warming grain to help heat the body in cold or rainy seasons. It is nearly 15% protein, contains high amounts of fiber, B-complex vitamins including niacin, thiamin, and riboflavin, the essential amino acid methionine, lecithin, and some vitamin E. It is particularly high in the minerals iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium. The seeds are also rich in phytochemicals, including phytic acid, which is believed to lower cholesterol, and phytate, which is associated with reduced cancer risk.

Amaranth was domesticated in Mexico as early as 7000 BC. Early Aztecs used it both for food and in their religious ceremonies. The name amaranth hails from the Greek for “never-fading flower.” The plant is an annual herb, categorized as a seed, and is a relative of a common wild plant also known as lamb’s-quarters. Amaranth has exceptional nutritional value for humans due to its ease of digestion, 12% overall protein content and unusually high content of lycine and methionine, two essential amino acids that are frequently not found in grains. The fiber content of amaranth is three times that of wheat, while its iron content is five times more than wheat. Amaranth also contains calcium, potassium, phosphorous and Vitamin A and C. It offers two times more calcium than milk. Amaranth supplies tocotrienols (a form of vitamin E) which have cholesterol-lowering activity in humans. Cooked amaranth is 90% digestible and because of this ease of digestion, it has traditionally been given to those recovering from an illness or ending a fasting period.

Buckwheat origin is in Southeast Asia, likely from around 6000 BC. From there its use gradually spread to the Middle East and Europe. Buckwheat is a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel. Diets that contain Buckwheat have been linked to lowered risk of developing high cholesterol and high blood pressure. The Yi people of China consume a diet high in Buckwheat (100grams per day). When researchers tested blood lipids of 805 Yi Chinese, they found that buckwheat intake was associated with lower total serum cholesterol, lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-the form linked to cardiovascular disease), and a high ratio of HDL (health-promoting cholesterol) to total cholesterol. Buckwheat’s beneficial effects are due in part to its rich supply of flavonoids, particularly rutin. The nutrients in buckwheat may contribute to blood sugar control. In a test that compared the effect on blood sugar of whole buckwheat groats to bread made from refined wheat flour, buckwheat groats significantly lowered blood glucose and insulin responses. Buckwheat also contains almost 86 milligrams of magnesium in a one-cup serving. Magnesium relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and nutrient delivery while lowering blood pressure-the perfect combination for a healthy cardiovascular system. Whole buckwheats also scored highest on their ability to satisfy hunger. Buckwheat is an excellent source of lysine, threonine, tryptophan and sulfur containing amino acids. It contains up to 37% resistant starch. Its glycemic index is 45.

Quinoa has been cultivated in South American Andes since at least 3,000 B.C. and has been a staple food of millions of native inhabitants. The ancient Incas called quinoa the “mother grain,” and revered it as sacred. Quinoa was used to sustain Incan armies, which frequently marched for many days eating a mixture of quinoa and fat. Technically, quinoa is not a true grain, but is the seed of the Chenopodium or Goosefoot plant. Quinoa supplies a uniquely balanced set of essential amino acids and is one of the best sources of plant-based proteins. It contains an almost perfect balance of all eight essential amino acids needed for tissue development in humans. It is exceptionally high in lysine, cystine and methionine-amino acids typically low in other grains. The quinoa seed is also high in calcium and iron, a relatively good source of vitamin E and several of the B vitamins. It is a high iron food that raises the hematocrit, delivering more oxygen to the brain to fight senility. Quinoa is an alkaline food, easy to digest, and provides important dietary fiber. Quinoa is 35 on the Glycemic Index (very low!).

Chia, like amaranth, was also very important to the ancient Aztecs of 7000 BC. Chia seed is a magical whole food, so much so that it was once valued as currency. It was known as the “running food.” Its use as a high energy endurance food has been recorded as far back as the Aztecs of old. The Aztec warriors subsisted primarily on Chia seeds during their conquests. The Indians of the southwest would eat as little as a teaspoon full when going on a 24 hour forced march. Indians running from the Colorado River to the California coast to trade turquoise for seas shells would only bring Chia seed for their nourishment.

Chia’s soluble fiber is highly mucilaginous and forms a gel in the stomach and intestines, slowing down absorption of glucose. The glycemic index of chia is 1—ONE. With Chia seeds, our body regulate more efficiently the absorption of nutrients. Because there is a greater efficiency in the utilization of body fluids, the electrolyte balance is maintained. Chia seeds can contain up to 20% protein, 25% dietary fiber, unusually high levels of healthy ormega-3 fatty acids, and significant levels of antioxidants.
Sincerely yours,

Seann Bardell

Clinical Note:

Energy Sustain Complex is a great drink in the morning or any time of the day. Mix it with juice—we love to mix it with pomegranate juice and coconut water, and in the hot days of summer, with watermelon juice, but any juice or soy or nut milk will work beautifully with the Energy Sustain. We add the Original Synbiotic, Beta Glucan Synbiotic, or the Triple Berry Probiotic for a good boost of bugs and fiber. At times we add rice protein or goat yogurt, or soy/nut/coconut yogurt for added protein although the complex has a nice amount to keep our  bodies humming. You can add fruit… it is delicious no matter what you add to it, and of course, very foundational to our health.

The Energy Sustain Complex provides an excellent compliment of macronutrients—complex carbohydrate, fiber and protein.  Glucose is our body’s preferred molecule for ATP production.  One glucose molecule can produce 38 ATP molecules for pure energy.  The key with carbo-hydrate is the rate of flow from the gut into the blood stream and this is monitored by what is called the glycemic load.

The beauty of Energy Sustain is that you can vary the energy flow into body by simply letting the mixture sit in water or any liquid for a length of time.  If you want a quick energy hit then drink it right away after mixing with liquid—the glycemic index would be around 69.  If you want a long lasting more modulated infusion of energy then allow the powder to sit in your liquid drink from a few minutes.  The longer you let it sit the lower the glycemic index goes.  This is do to the soluble fiber is the seeds and millet that have been concentrated through the manufactring process.  The chia in particular is very mucilagenous and enhances viscosity when allowed to sit, driving down the glycemic index.

Through a patented thermo-mechanical process the endosperm tissues of these seeds and grain are disrupted allowing for the removal of the cellulosic fibers by filtration and centrifugation procedures.  During this hydrocolloid process the seeds and grain nutrients are rendered more bioavailable.  This process renders the powder into a wonderfully misible homegenous drink when added to your water, smoothy, green drink, etc.  You will really like this product.

“Polar bears are intriguing to watch. Each has his or her own personality—just like humans,” said Robert Buchanan of Polar Bears International, a non-profit organization dedicated to the worldwide conservation of the polar bear. “Some bears are shy, some are playful, while others are grouchy or aggressive.”

There are 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears around the world. They are the world’s largest carnivore. Polar bears top the food chain in the Artic, and people view them as a majestic symbol of the far north.

The Mesozoic vegetate we’ve mined and extracted minerals from comes from the tropic rainforests of the late dinosaur period around 85 million years ago. Back then rainforests were found in the Northern hemisphere. Here is a very interesting link about the Earth’s richest terrestrial ecosystem: Tropical Rainforests Original Generators of Biodiversity.

Dear Friends,

Can you name this Beautiful Creature?

It is with great joy and excitement that we finally bring to you our two newest products:

  • Ultra Minerals—Mesozoic Vegetate
  • Energy Sustain Complex—A Global Blend of Indigenous Organic Seeds and Grains.

I talked about these two items in several Forward Thinking newsletters over the past eight months; and finally, finally we have them ready to be shipped! Phew! It just takes a while to birth quality new products.

These products are profound and powerful seminal elements in the human food chain of life. The Ultra Minerals come from Deep Time, the age of the dinosaurs, when the soil was rich and full of minerals. The Energy Sustain Complex comes from the dawning of the Neolithic Age, the time when human evolved out of the hunter-gatherer and started horticulture (gardening). As you can see, our genes have deep historical roots and therefore very specific needs.

Let me share with you the origin, beauty, and power of the Ultra Minerals.

The Evolution of a Meal: From autotrophs to detritivores. (Trophic is Greek for feeder)

Autotrophs are the organisms that support all other trophic levels by synthesizing sugars and other organic molecules, using light energy and inorganic minerals derived from the air, land, or sea as their food. The cyanobacteria, protists, algae, and the terrestrial plants are the autotrophs—the primary producers forming the base of the food chain. The primary consumers are the herbivores that consume the autotrophs. The secondary consumers are the carnivores that eat herbivores. The tertiary consumers are the carnivores that eat other carnivores. Of course, there are the omnivores like us who take our meals throughout the food chain. And finally, there are the detritivores—consumers that derive energy from organic wastes and dead organisms, converting organic molecules of carbon and other minerals back into inorganic mineral forms.

So life evolved from simple organisms to lush tropical forests, teaming with life–cycling and recycling the minerals of life. Thousands of diverse species of plants sending their roots into the earth, sucking up its precious minerals into their bodies, while at the same time absorbing through their leaves minerals and light energy from the air–all to be used in their physiological processes. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate from these forests, their cells being fed by plants, bursting in mineral content, containing over 80 different mineral–co-factors toward the healthy physiological functioning of their bodies.

Did you know that the total weight of the microbial life forms within the soil is greater that the combined biomass of all other organisms on the planet? These microbial life forms enable the root systems of plants to take up the minerals of the earth into their bodies for their physiological processes. The microbes plus a multitude of minerals make for healthy plants which in turn make for healthy animals, and all making a healthy compost when returned to the soil in death.

But, to borrow from the Apollo 13’s famous quote, “Houston, we’ve got a problem.”

In the last 50 years we’ve seen the destruction of over 50% of our supply of topsoil needed for food production. Extensive topsoil has been lost through the overuse of inorganic fertilizers, erosion and farming practices that deplete soil nutrients.

Today the soil around the world shows no more that 20 minerals. The nutritional value of modern food isn’t just declining, it’s collapsing. The soil in the North American continent has had an average of 85% mineral depletion over the past 100 years–the worst of any other country in the world.

There are two sources of nutrients from the soil: the living organisms and the mineral content. Both are being decimated, and the results are foods with diminished nutritional value.

“The alarming fact is that food- fruits and vegetables and grains- now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contains enough of certain needed nutrients [minerals and microbes], are starving us no matter how much we eat of them.” (US Senate Document 264, 1936)

The eminent scientist and two-time Nobel Laurent Linus Pauling claimed that “You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”

It is well established within the holistic medical community that mineral supplementation is a critical adjunct to achieving good health, and there are many mineral products within the marketplace to choose from. They can be divided into three forms—metallic, chelates, and colloidals.

Metalic minerals come from ancient sea beds, ground up rock and soil. They are positively charged and hydrophobic. The body can assimilate no more than 8% of the metallic minerals it consumes. Examples of these are ferrous (iron) sulphate, magnesium oxide, and calcium carbonate. Very cheap and found in your typical drug and grocery store. They are certainly appropriate food for plants but not for humans.

Chelated minerals come in several forms. Amino acids are commonly used as the chelating agent. These are nothing more than a metallic mineral that has been linked with a protein or amino acid which helps dissolve the mineral. Possibly improving the absorption to 40%. There are also the organic acid chelates such as citrates, aspartates, glycinates and malates which provide better absorption.

Colloidal minerals is the form in which we find plant-derived minerals. They are negatively charged, hydrophilic, and nano-sized. They form direct hydrogen bonds with water and are therefore water soluble and nearly 100% absorbable without digestion, even through the skin. Metallic and chelated minerals are 200 to 10,000 times larger than plant-derived minerals. Plant based colloidal minerals are digested nearly instantly, providing immediate benefits.

The challenge then in creating an ideal human mineral supplement is to find plant- sourced material with the wide assortment of minerals necessary for optimizing human health. And, we feel we have accomplished this with our newest product.

I present to you our newest Therapeutic Foods—Ultra Minerals- Mesozoic Substrate.

What is Mesozoic Vegetate?
About seventy-five million years ago, Earth’s fertile, mineral-rich soil produced lush green forest and wholesome, succulent, wild fruits and vegetables. This was an era when the soils near the earth’s crust contained at least 84 minerals. The numerous mineral elements available at the time may explain why a tree grew 10 feet its first year. According to science, all life at that time, whether plant or animal, was extremely healthy and it is assumed that this was a direct result of the plants’ ability to extract at least seventy or more minerals for the soil. As the thick growth of vegetation died, it accumulated in large piles and years later, it was buried from rock and mud flows and deposits of sand and silt. The weight of the overflow compacted or compressed out all of the moisture, and what remains today is a deposit of pure, dried, prehistoric plant derivatives.

In the above photo, the darker strata towards the top is mesozoic vegetate. These deposits are accessible to be mined at various locations around the world. The Mesozoic vegetation that we’ve sourced for the Ultra Minerals comes from the United States. Using pure water we are able to extract over 72 different kinds of minerals from the prehistoric vegetable matter. We then take this hydrocolloidal solution and drum dry it leaving a pure mineral powder of nano-sized, negatively charged elements that when rehydrated with water are immediately absorpable. We put 150mg of this pure mineral powder in a vegetarian capsule, 60 capsules to a bottle. It is Kosher, and with no excipient. Cheers—To your health!

Sincerely yours,

Seann Bardell

Clinical Note:

Cold-water extracted from a pristine source of Mesozoic Vegetate, Ultra Minerals delivers a full spectrum of important plant-based elements and minerals in varying trace amounts, the majority of which are absent from our foods and mineral supplements currently on the market. Plant-based minerals which are naturally chelated through plant root uptake and digestion.

As you can see from the label, each capsule contains 150mg of pure negatively charged colloidal minerals, that are in nano-sized particles—smaller than oxygen or hydrogen atoms. They ionically bond with water molecules and are 100% bioavailable. They can be absorbed through the skin. Take one to two capsule a day.

The Last Quiz Answer:

This amazing bird of the night is a Hoot Owl. They prefer to live deep in the forest. They mate for life, and can live up to 23 years. Hoot Owls, also called Barred Owls, are opportunistic hunters—here’s their menu: rats, squirrels, rabbits, bats, moles, opossums, minks, weasels, woodpeckers, grouse, pigeons … you get the picture. The female lays 2 to 4 eggs (white and almost perfectly round) and then nests on them with the male bringing her food. Once hatched the babies remain in the family for four months before they leave home.

In the first and still the most comprehensive study of global soil misuse, scientists at the International Soil Reference and Information Centre (ISRIC) in the Netherlands estimated in 1991 that human kind has degraded more than 7.5 million square miles of land. Our species, in other words is rapidly trashing an area the size of the United States and Canada combined.
