Dear Friends,

Good fiber and good probiotic organisms, found in such products as in the Beta Glucan High Potency Synbiotic and Energy Sustain are an important part of a daily diet.

In the peer-reviewed 2008 issue of Diabetes, researchers found that feeding mice a high fat diet strongly increased intestinal permeability and reduced the expression of genes coding for proteins of the tight junctions.

They also found that feeding mice a high fat diet modulates the gut microbiota and the plasma concentration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), an endotoxin causative to endotoxemia, characterized by chronic inflammation which can lead to obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

Their conclusion was that it would be useful to develop strategies for changing the gut microbiota to control intestinal permeability, metabolic endotoxemia, and associated disorders.

Both the Beta Glucan High Potency Synbiotic and the Energy Sustain provide important strategic additions to our American Diets.

Sincerely yours,

Clinical Note:

The Beta Glucan High Potency Synbiotic is such a wonderful source of soluble fiber and of course its high levels of pedigreed probiotic organisms to support the healing of the GI tract membrane.  Take one tablespoon twice daily 20 minutes before your two largest meals.

The Energy Sustain provides powerful seeds and one grain (all gluten free and of course organic) adding to our diet more soluble and insoluble fibers along with vitamins, mineral, proteins, essential fat and complex carbs.  All providing the base for a healthy meal with a low glycemic load.  Just add water or blend into a smoothy.  Take two to three heaping tablespoons a day.

The Last Quiz Answer:

The fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized cat of South and Southeast Asia about twice the size of a domestic cat.  They have a stocky, muscular build with medium to short legs.  Like its closest relative, the leopard cat, the fishing cat lives along rivers, streams and mangrove swamps.  It is well adapted to this habitat, being a eager and skilled swimmer. They are an endangered species as their wetland habitats are increasingly being settled, degraded and converted.  (Wikipedia)
