In our last email we highlighted the research on Fructo Borate’s ability to help reduce C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the blood, and the potential positive effects this lowering may have on the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD).
This week we will share the initial 2011 pilot study research from Romania on Fructo Borate supplementation and the findings that it supports the prevention and reduction of osteoarthritis.
The study: Romulus Scorei et al. Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Pilot Study to Evaluate the Effect of Calcium Fructoborate on Systemic Inflammation and Dyslipidemia Markers for Middle-Aged People with Primary Osteoarthritis, Bio Trace Elem Res., Dec 2011;144(1-3):253-263. Romulus Scorei et al. sought to determine whether 15 days of dietary supplementation with calcium fructobotate could acutely modulate inflammatory and lipid blood markers in individuals with primary osteoarthritis.
Out of 116 initial subjects 60 completed the study as designed. The aim was to compare the effects of fructo borate to placebo on subjects diagnosed with knee primary osteoarthritis. The inflammatory biomarkers looked at were C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
The calcium fructo borate showed beneficial effect on the inflammatory markers for all groups subjected to the treatment. This study suggests that short-term (2 weeks)fructo borate supplementation in patients with osteoarthritis symptoms has a favorable prognosis.

This amazing primate is a Ring-tailed Lemur, “posture-child” for the Central Park Zoo. We just got back from a week in New York City and my morning heavenly runs in Central Park, where I saw many ring-tail postures, inspiring me to show you this lemur.
Lemurs are found only on the island of Madagascar. Ring-tails live in troups of 6 to 30 animals. Both sexes live in a troop, but a dominant female presides over all.
Ring-tails lemurs, unlike the other four genuses of lemurs who spend most of their time in the trees, spend much of their time on the ground also.
When it comes to reducing greenhouse gasses and improving air quality Canadian cities are leading the way. In fact, beautiful Vancouver BC just north of us is the real leader on Canadian urban climate initiatives. It has the lowest greenhouse gas emissions of any major North American city. Way to go Vancouver! Way to go Canada!!!
